Emirates First Class is one of the most exclusive cabins in the sky. It features an Onboard Shower, Bar and some of the best meals in the sky. Not to mention a very spacious suite. But it’s not only flown by those travellers who spend $11,000 to $27,000 roundtrip. It’s actually very affordable for those who know how to maximize their miles.
Booking Emirates First Class
Emirates main routes from New York on its A380s are to Milan and Dubai. For those based in New York these routes are what I recommend. I go to Spain very often and seeing as Milan is a very central city in Europe, this was a great choice. Emirates isn’t part of a Big Alliance like OneWorld or Star Alliance but they have 15 partners including Japan Airlines,Korean Air and Alaska Airways. They have a lot more partners but these airlines have the best redemption rates.
First, You can of course book through Emirates Classic Rewards which is a transfer partner of American Express. But it requires 217,500 Miles + a hefty fee of $1,072 between New York and Milan and Emirates actually charges the same amount of Miles but about $500 less in fees to go to Dubai from New York. Going to Milan from New York doesn’t make sense for booking on Emirates but going to Dubai is a very good redemption.
Next, you can use Korean Air to book Emirates First Class at a slightly better rate. Korean Air is a transfer partner of Chase Rewards. Korean Air charges 170,00 miles for a First Class ticket from New York to Milan round trip plus about $250 in surcharges.Korean Air charges 210,000 miles plus about $250 in surcharges for First Class from New York to Dubai round trip. Korean
You can also book with Alaska Airlines. Which is not a transfer partner of any major Credit Cards and used to have really great redemption rates but since raised them. A Round Trip in First Class to Milan from New York will cost 360,000 miles + $77, a First Class redemption from New York to Dubai is 300,000 miles + $79.76. That’s Right, First Class from New York to Dubai is cheaper than New York to Milan. Alaska Airlines has the worst redemption option but has very little surcharges so If you’ve got a lot of Alaskan Miles to burn but you’re short on cash this is the redemption for you.
Finally, You can book Emirates with Japan Airlines which has an amazing distance based Award Chart. Round Trip between New York and Milan in First is only 100,000 JAL Miles plus no more than $100’s in fees and New York to Dubai in First is only 135,000 miles plus the same amount of fees as New York to Milan.
Emirates has many partners with many different redemption rates that are all ideal for people who have miles in those programs. I will definitely be booking New York to Milan in First round trip in the future through Japan Airlines and I hope you do too!
